Bad Habits

Nail biting

Nail biting manifests itself in various situations: during stress, excitement, boredom or inactivity, watching TV, reading, talking on the phone. Most of the time, people bite their nails without even noticing it. And even if people try hard not to bite their nails, they will often still find themselves doing it!

People often become ashamed of this habit when they find themselves doing it in public and become very upset about it. But apart from having a negative psychological impact, biting your nails also causes physical damage: your fingers get reddish, look bad and sore, and your cuticles start to bleed. The further exposure of damaged skin to the outer environment (via touching dirty surfaces and subsequent nail biting) creates a higher risk of being infected with bacterial diseases.

Hair pulling

Hair pulling is the repeated, compulsive pulling of one's own hair. The main areas where people tend to pull their hair out are the head, face, eyebrows and eyelashes. But it can also affect other parts of the body, such as the arms, chest and legs. This often leads to hair loss and/or skin damage.

People usually form an irresistible urge to pull their hair out due to strong stress or desire. And after the hair is pulled out, they often feel a sense of relief or pleasure. It mainly occurs when a person is alone, watching TV, reading, talking on the phone, driving a car, or washing their face.

Hypnotherapy can help effectively deal with these habits. First, under hypnosis, you'll be able to find the reason why the obsessive habit was formed, and then you'll go through the processing of your hidden desires and emotions. Finally, you'll manage to break the unwanted behavior pattern and your subconscious mind will receive positive suggestions aimed at unlearning a bad habit.
