Bodily Problems
Negative emotions and experiences that cannot be let out accumulate in the body and can cause internal pain. Ignoring this discomfort for too long can produce physical symptoms. Since our psyche and body are interconnected, the occurrence of a problem in one system inevitably affects the condition of the other. For example, constant stress, anxiety or suppressed anger can provoke pain in various parts of the body and even cause the development of a physical illness.
Diseases in which there is no diagnosed organic cause or visible pathology are called psychosomatic. They are divided into three groups:
-
Conversion disorders. For example, pain, goosebumps, psychogenic blindness, deafness and vomiting.
-
Functional disorders that affect certain internal organs and systems. For example, discomfort in the heart area, breathing problems, indigestion, uncontrolled urination, back pain, sore throat, etc. These symptoms may be accompanied with anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance, decreased focus, and mental fatigue.
-
Psychosomatic disorders per se, which are based on a physiological reaction to a specific negative experience. A reaction can be so strong that it can cause a pathological change in any internal system or organ. These include some types of allergies, bronchial asthma, ulcerative colitis, essential hypertension, neurodermatitis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, eczema, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, coronary heart disease, migraine, psychosomatic thyrotoxicosis, and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Since the cause of psychosomatic disorders is an internal conflict of the psyche-body sphere, the treatment should be specifically aimed at eliminating this conflict. Hypnotherapy is used in all cases when you have any complaints that have no organic or otherwise visible cause. If you manage to break the connection between a specific emotional reaction and the event that caused it, you can minimize or even completely cure the symptoms of the disease.
